My Substacking year is off to a slow start, with three weeks almost gone in January.
I had a rough spell of swine flu that kept me in bed for the first week of the year, and I have spent the past few weeks pursuing one of my New Year’s goals: learning how to edit and post videos about my experiences here in Turkey.
This is one of my first efforts, a short profile of a vacant lot near me. It was an interesting shoot: I had noticed the pine tree and was considering how I would shoot when the call to prayer sang out from the mosque on the other side of the vacant lot.
The speakers on this mosque are loud. Enough to wake me most mornings around 5:45. You will get a sense of that when you watch the video.
